Privacy policy
The short answer: nothing about you leaves your phone, because the app has no way to send it.
The short version
Winkle QR does not collect, store on a server, share or sell any information about you. It can't: the app has no permission to use the internet, so Android blocks it from connecting to any network. Everything it does happens on your device.
What the app can access

The app asks for no other permission. It does not access your location, contacts, phone number, files, microphone, or any account.
What stays on your device
- History. Codes you scan and codes you create are saved in a database inside the app's private storage, so you
- Settings. Your theme choice and your last-used QR style are stored in the app's private storage.
- Logo images. If you pick a photo as a logo for a QR code, the app copies it into its private storage to draw
- Saved and shared images. Tapping Save puts the QR image in your gallery or a location you pick. Tapping
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything in the app's private storage. Images you saved to your gallery stay
What the app does not do
- No analytics, usage tracking, advertising, advertising IDs or crash reporting
- No account or sign-in
- No cloud sync, uploads or "check for updates" calls (updates come through Google Play)
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone, because the app has no data to share
When you choose to hand something to another app
Some actions open another app that you choose, for example:
- Open link opens the web address in your browser
- Connect to Wi-Fi hands the network details to Android's Wi-Fi settings
- Save contact, Call, Send message and Email open your contacts, phone, messaging or email app
- Share and Save open Android's share sheet or file picker
Winkle QR passes the information only when you tap the action. What the other app does with it is covered by that app's own privacy policy.
Libraries built into the app
Barcode scanning uses Google's ML Kit barcode model, bundled inside the app so that nothing needs to be downloaded. ML Kit includes components meant for sending usage logs to Google. In Winkle QR these can't send anything, because the app has no internet permission, and the app's build also removes those components.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
